WINTER STORM UPDATES: Governor Lamont has declared a State of Emergency due to the major winter storm that is expected to impact Connecticut beginning Sunday, January 25. Motorists are strongly advised to avoid all travel on Connecticut roads on Sunday and into at least Monday morning. Commercial vehicles – such as permitted vehicles, trucks, RVs, tractor trailers, tankers, and vehicles with trailers – are prohibited from traveling on all limited access highways in Connecticut beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, and remaining in effect until further notice. SMISHING SCAM ALERT: We have been informed that some residents are receiving fraudulent text messages and phone calls. Please be advised that the CT DMV does NOT contact residents regarding motor vehicle related violations. You can report scams and suspicious communications to the Federal Trade Commission.  

WALK-IN SERVICES: Walk-in services are not available at our Cheshire, Putnam, and Stamford locations. Additionally, none of our locations offer walk-in services on Saturdays. Residents should expect long wait times if they do not have an appointment. Our appointment system is updated in real time, with new appointments added regularly.

WORK ZONE SAFETY COURSE: Effective 1/1/26, anyone applying for a learner's permit must complete the free, online Connecticut Work Zone Safety Course.  Take the Work Zone Safety Course.
