Specifications Section

The goal of the Specifications Section is to provide clear, concise, complete, correct and consistent Specifications to communicate CTDOT's expectations for the performance of the work to the Contractor. The Specifications Section’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Supporting the Standard Specifications Committee (SSC)
  • Working with Design and Construction to revise and update standard specifications, supplemental specifications, special provisions, owned special provisions, notices to contractor, standard drawings and other contract documents
  • Performing design phase plan reviews and special provision reviews
  • Visiting active construction projects to assess how specifications are performing

Engineering and Construction Directive 2015-3-EC was issued on July 16, 2015 to establish the processes and responsibilities for the development and maintenance of the Standard Specifications and Supplemental Specifications and to provide guidance to areas related to specifications and contract documents.
