Connecticut residents benefit from an extensive network of local, express, regional, and microtransit bus services that operate throughout the state. Some of these services include CTtransit, CTfastrak, microtransit service, ADA service, and various transit districts throughout the state.

CTtransit Hartford Division operates local and express bus routes serving 27 towns in the Capital Region. Many local routes operates 7 days a week and express service primarily operates on weekdays only The bus system connects with CTfastrak, CTtransit New Britain, River Valley Transit, and CTrail Hartford Line. There is also service to and from Bradley International Airport

CTtransit New Haven Division operates local bus routes throughout the Greater New Haven area. Many routes operate 7 days a week, connecting with other state-owned or subsidized bus services in Meriden, Waterbury, Wallingford, Milford, and the lower Naugatuck Valley. There are also connections with Metro-North’s New Haven Line and CTrail Shore Line East.

CTtransit Stamford Division operates local bus routes in the Greater Stamford area.  May route operate 7 days a week. CTtransit Stamford buses connect with other state-subsidized bus services in Norwalk and Bee-Line buses in Westchester County, New York. CTtransit Stamford also operates the I-Bus, an express bus service between downtown Stamford and White Plains, New York. Buses connect with Metro-North Railroad’s New Haven Line and the Harlem Line.

CTtransit Waterbury Division operates local bus routes in the Greater Waterbury area. Connections are made CTtransit New Haven and the New Haven Line (operated by Metro-North).

Ride the bus and get ADA transit service in Berlin, New Britain, Cromwell, Newington, Plainville, Bristol, and Meriden. DATTCO provides the buses for New Britain’s East Street and South Street routes. ADA service is provided by First Transit for the Greater Hartford Transit District. Questions?

CTtransit Meriden and Wallingford Division operates fixed route services in both communities. Connections are made with CTtransit New Haven, as well as in Meriden to River Valley Transit. Service in Wallingford operates weekdays only.

The CTfastrak system provides direct service to and from Waterbury, Cheshire, Southington, Bristol, Plainville, New Britain, Newington, West Hartford, Hartford and Manchester with routes that take advantage of the bus-only CTfastrak roadway

Transit districts

Many areas have their own bus systems and provide special services for people with disabilities and seniors.

GBTA provides bus service in Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, Westport, Shelton, Monroe and Trumbull, including ADA paratransit service.

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District has deviated fixed route and dial-a-ride in the towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Eastford, Hampton, Killingly, Plainfield, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson, Union, and Woodstock.

This system serves Torrington, Harwinton, Winchester, Litchfield, Morris, Kent, Sharon, Falls Village, Colebrook, Goshen, Salisbury, Norfolk, New Hartford, Cornwall, Canaan, Warren, Winsted and Barkhamstead. Get ADA paratransit service for all towns; seniors are asked to make a donation.
