CTDOT Bureaus

The Office of the Commissioner is responsible for overseeing the goals, objectives, strategies and identify new initiatives that will improve the ability to deliver for the people of Connecticut.

The Bureau of Engineering and Construction develops and implements the capital program for Connecticut’s transportation network. The program is delivered through efficient and innovative engineering and construction solutions with stakeholder input to improve public safety and mobility, enhance economic vitality, and improve community connectivity.

The Bureau of Finance and Administration facilitates CTDOT's goals by supporting personnel development, optimizing fiscal and operational performance, enhancing business processes through technology, fostering community participation in economic development, and contributing to the ongoing enhancement of the state's transportation system.

The Bureau of Highway Operations ensures the safety and efficiency of the State's Highway and Bridge systems while addressing the needs of motorists. Through the implementation of Best Practices and High Standards, our dedicated staff is committed to providing optimal service to the Highway and Bridge systems, in areas such as Snow and Ice Control, Incident Management, and Oversize/Overweight Vehicle Permitting.

The Bureau of Policy and Planning is dedicated to conducting a continuous, cooperative, and comprehensive statewide transportation planning process with the goal of implementing projects, strategies and services that promote economic development, sustainability, safety, security, accessibility and mobility.

The Bureau of Public Transportation is committed to the development, maintenance, and operation of a secure and efficient public transportation system. We focus on facilitating the movement of people through various modes, including Bus Transit, Rail Operations, Ferries, and Ridesharing programs.
