Advertising Permits

Specific information and business signs 

This program allows businesses to erect their Business Sign on a Specific Information Sign to inform highway travelers about nearby service options (gas, food, lodging, or camping).

Outdoor advertising permit 

We regulate the erection of billboards through the issuance of State Sign Permits (Initial, Renewal, or Modification).

General Permits

Major Traffic Generators 

This is a permit to operate developments over 100,000 square feet (Initial or Modification).

Speed limit certificate

Highway Permits

The Bureau of Public Transportation oversees the regulation of moving companies, taxicabs, livery operators, and motorbus companies.

Industrial truck permit 

Permit for transporting goods or property to and between buildings of the same plant (C.G.S. 13A-117).

Encroachment permit 

Permit for use of a State highway for purposes other than travel, including excavations or utility work within the right of way.

Oversize/overweight vehicle permit 

Permits for divisible and non divisible loads, C.G.S. Sections 14-262, 14-264, 14-267z, and 14-269.

Radioactive material permit 

The Radioactive Material Permit allows the transport of radioactive material into and through the state.

Permit for use on limited access highway 

The permit for use on limited access highways is a written permission for authorized tasks on a limited access highway.

Permission to film on limited access highways 

This permit gives approval to film on limited access highways in the state.

Parkway permit 

The parkway permit allows normally-excluded vehicles to operate on the Merritt and Wilbur Cross Parkways (Initial or Renewal).

Special event permit for highway 

This permit allows the use of state highways for parades, motorcycle events, and other special events.
