Connecticut DMV Law Enforcement Unit Participates in 26th Annual Wishes on Wheels Event

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. – State Department of Motor Vehicles law enforcement helped create a special day on Sunday, September 14, for than 100 families during the 26th annual Wishes on Wheels Truck Convoy at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

The event brought together nearly 500 trucks and welcomed more than 100 wish families for a parade convoy through I-84 and I-384, raising awareness and funds to support Make-A-Wish Connecticut. Over the past 26 years, Wishes on Wheels has raised more than $2.3 million to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

“DMV is proud to be a part of this event and we extend our gratitude to all who participated and contributed to this special day, helping to support a meaningful cause and bring joy to children and families across Connecticut,” DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera.

The agency’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Division helped local and state police units with traffic control, and helped fulfill 8-year-old Gavin’s dream of riding in a police car with lights and sirens during the parade.
Additionally, they distributed educational materials to the hundreds of volunteer truck drivers who made the day a success.

Following the convoy, families and attendees enjoyed a Family Fun Day at Rentschler Field that included rides, games, a car show, raffle, and other attractions.
