CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN WETHERSFIELD: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2025
November 21, 2025
For Immediate Release
WETHERSFIELD, Conn. – The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles along with the Wethersfield Police Department and the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department Company 1 will be hosting a Child Passenger Safety Event on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department Company #1, 171 Main Street in Wethersfield.
Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) will be onsite offering child passenger seat inspections. Technicians will evaluate the installation of the seat and provide information to parents and caregivers regarding usage.
CPSTs receive extensive training and are well versed in the latest safety standards and practices.
“The proper use of a child passenger seat is crucial. Children need to be buckled in a car seat, booster seat, or seat belt that is appropriate for their age and size,” said DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera. “We’ll have some child passenger seats onsite during our safety event for those who don’t have the correct one.”
“Keeping our youngest passengers safe is one of the most important responsibilities we share as a community,” said Wethersfield Police Chief Rafael Medina, III. “This partnership with the Connecticut DMV allows us to provide parents and caregivers with expert guidance, hands-on instruction, and critical safety resources. Together, we are committed to reducing preventable injuries and making our roads safer for all.”
“We are pleased to join our public safety partners, the Wethersfield Police Department and DMV in ensuring the use of the proper style seat, but also that it is installed properly to protect your most precious cargo this season, your child,” said Wethersfield Fire Chief Brian Schroll.
