Individuals and organizations can reprint a registration certificate online

For vehicle and vessel registrations there are different processes of individuals and vehicle registrations of organizations. See below for more information.

A document printed from the web, such as a registration renewal or reprint, will not include the address on the registration to protect this information.

Ways to request a copy of your registration

ONLY a vehicle owner may request a duplicate vehicle registration.

Who’s eligible

Individuals with a current vehicle or vessel (e.g., boat) registration are eligible to reprint their registration certificate online.

How to

Follow the steps below to reprint your vehicle (or vessel) registration online.

Step 1: Gather what you’ll need

  • Your first and last name exactly as it appears on your driver's license or non-driver ID card
  • Your driver’s license or non-driver ID card number
  • Your date of birth
  • Your street address on your driver's license or non-driver ID card
  • Your license plate number or your CT vessel registration number
  • Your Social Security Number (this is not required for owners with an out-of-state driver's license or a Connecticut drive-only license)
  • A credit or debit card if you’re reprinting registration for a vessel (e.g., boats or other water vessels)

Step 2: Reprint your vehicle or vessel registration online

Step 3: Download/receive your reprinted registration(s)
Reprinted vehicle registrations will be available to download and can be printed at your convenience. Reprinted vessel registrations will be mailed to your preferred shipping address.


Note: Your reprinted vehicle registration(s) will be accessible for 30 days for no additional fee—access online now.

Fees

There is no fee to reprint your vehicle registration online. 

However, there is a $20 fee to reprint your vessel (e.g., boat) registration.

Receipt

You can request a receipt for an online transaction processed after May 24, 2021. Request a copy of your transaction receipt.

Eligibility and process

You will need your organization details and current plate information (plate number and plate class) to reprint a vehicle registration online. There is no fee to reprint online.

Note: Organizations must have a Secretary of State number on file with the DMV to use this online service. If your Secretary of State number is not on file with the DMV, please contact the DMV call center at 1-800-842-8222 to submit your Secretary of State number.

You may write to the DMV requesting a duplicate registration, using Form B-341.

Please direct your correspondence to:

Be sure to include your:

  • Marker plate number
  • Type of vehicle or vessel
  • Your full name and address
  • Your signature on the request

Include a check or money order for $20 made payable to “DMV” for the duplicate registration. Be sure to include your plate number on your check.

Get a duplicate registration in person

Make an appointment at a DMV hub or branch office location. Be sure to bring your marker plate number and an acceptable form of payment for the $20 duplicate registration fee.
