The CTDOT Division of Traffic Engineering manages, directs and coordinates traffic designs, studies, and investigations for State roadways. The Division of Traffic Engineering is organized according to the units described in the links below.

Traffic Engineering Units

Operations 

The Operations Unit of the Division of Traffic Engineering works closely with Local Traffic Authorities (LTAs) and elected officials with assisting traffic engineering operations on state highways.

Project Design 

The Project Design Unit in the Division of Traffic Engineering designs and reviews traffic engineering related aspects of construction projects while maintaining the asset management program for signs on State roadways.

Signal Projects and Signal Management 

The Signal Project and Signal Management Unit in the Division of Traffic Engineering is responsible for the design and management of state-owned traffic signals.

Safety 

The Safety Unit in the Division of Traffic Engineering looks at the prevention of fatal and serious injury crashes involving all road users on state and local roadways in Connecticut.
