Connecticut’s Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund project expands employer-driven training opportunities to address critical workforce needs across high-demand industries. The project leverages established Regional Sector Partnerships (RSPs), employer engagement, and labor market data to design and implement training programs that are responsive to employer demand.
Key activities include on-the-job training, incumbent worker upskilling, classroom instruction, pre-apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship programs, and integration of AI-related skills. Training models employ competency-based instruction, virtual reality career exploration, adaptive learning, and cohort-based pathways to accelerate skill development, ensure industry alignment, and provide clear progression into high-demand occupations.
CTDOL will disburse $1.5M in funding to each of the five Connecticut Workforce Development Boards to provide employer reimbursement that supports worker training programs. The Workplace, Inc, Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board, Workforce Alliance, Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, and Capital Workforce Partners will oversee employer engagement, training recruitment, outcomes, and data reporting.
