“I perform a complex range of specialist technical tasks, which are critical in ensuring buildings are designed and built to be safe, accessible, and energy efficient,” he explains.
Royal’s path to the State of Connecticut was paved through years of hands-on experience. He began his career in the electrical field, a foundation that proved invaluable when he transitioned into a municipal inspector role. That experience ultimately led him to the state level, where he now helps enforce and uphold building codes that protect residents and communities statewide.
“My journey began with a background in the Electrical field, which eventually led me to a role as an Inspector for a Municipality,” Royal said. “This experience ultimately progressed into a career at the State level.”
While Royal is still relatively new to DAS, his impact has not gone unnoticed.
“I haven’t been with the State long, however the compliments I’ve received so far have been very rewarding,” he shares.
Whether it’s reviewing technical plans or identifying critical issues in construction, Royal’s conscientious work is a testament to his professionalism and attention to detail.
When the workday ends, Royal turns his focus to what brings him joy and balance—family, leisure, and a love for simple pleasures.
“My Wife and I enjoy long walks, social gatherings, and action-packed movies,” he says.
One memorable moment? A trip to a resort in Mexico that was still under construction. Even on vacation, Royal’s professional instincts couldn’t take a break:
“During our stay, I found myself mentally criticizing the various installations throughout the property,” he notes.

His approach is grounded, practical, and shaped by years of technical rigor.
When asked who he admires most, Royal doesn't hesitate: “My Wife, she’s fearless and very supportive.”
Her strength and support fuel his motivation, both in life and in work. Together, they enjoy moments of peace by the Connecticut Shore—a favorite place he describes as a “natural stress reliever.”

“The power to heal, especially the young.”
