Allision Annunziata

Name: Allison Annunziata
Title: Assistant CFO
Department of Administrative Services
Office: Business Office

1Can you share your current role and key responsibilities within the State of Connecticut?

I serve as the Assistant CFO in the DAS Business Office, supporting fiscal and administrative operations for DAS and our SmART agencies. A big part of my role is helping teams work more efficiently – identifying issues, developing solutions, improving workflows, and documenting processes. I focus on streamlining operations and strengthening cross-unit collaboration, and I also provide management backup and support whenever it’s needed.

2. What motivated you to pursue a career with the State of Connecticut, and what has been your journey here?

I’ve been with the State of Connecticut for just over 15 years. I started at DOT and then spent 13 years at DMV, where I grew from a CCT into management roles. What’s always motivated me is the opportunity to make a difference through public service while continuing to grow professionally. Improving operations, supporting staff, and helping deliver reliable services to the public are what have kept me committed to state service.

3. What achievements at the State of Connecticut are you most proud of, and what impact have they had?

I’m especially proud of my work on the DMV Modernization project. I partnered with vendors like Deloitte and worked closely with multiple agencies to expand online services and improve the customer experience. The project increased digital access, reduced the need for in‑person visits, and made routine transactions simpler and faster. It was really rewarding to help move the DMV toward a more efficient and customer-focused model.

4. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of your work, and how do they enrich your life?

Outside of work, I’m usually at my yoga studio taking barre or Pilates classes. I also spend a lot of time with my two dogs, who keep me busy with long walks and being outside. These routines help me unwind, stay grounded, and enjoy time with the people (and pets) who matter most.

5. Could you share a memorable travel experience and what made that destination special for you?

One of my favorite trips was to Las Vegas last year with my sisters for the When We Were Young music festival. I’ve always loved concerts, and getting to see nostalgic bands from my teen years while sharing the experience with my much younger sister made it really special.

6. What advice would you give to someone considering a career with the State of Connecticut?

Focus on what you can control and take pride in your work — your effort matters, even when it’s not always visible. Building strong relationships and soft skills is just as important as technical knowledge because success in state service is truly a team effort. When you support the people around you, you help create a stronger and more positive workplace.

7. What’s your favorite spot in Connecticut, and what makes it special to you?

Anywhere by the water — especially the shoreline. I’ve always loved family beach vacations, and now my dogs make it even better when they come along for beach days, hikes, or any adventure with a nice view.

8. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to make a difference?

I’d pick time travel. I like the idea of being able to look back and see how things really happened and then jump ahead to see how decisions play out. Having that perspective would make planning and decision-making a lot smarter.

9. Who is the person you admire, and what qualities do they possess that inspire you?

I admire my mom for her resilience and determination. She’s someone who never gives up and always keeps pushing toward success, even when things are challenging. Seeing that growing up really shaped how I approach work and life.

10. What’s an interesting or fun fact?

Fun Fact: Someone recently convinced me that The Lord of the Rings technically qualifies as a Christmas movie—the Fellowship actually left Rivendell on December 25th to begin their 13-month journey. Now I can’t unsee it.
