2. What motivated you to pursue a career with the State of Connecticut, and what has been your journey here?

Since the early 1980s, I have worked as an automotive parts vendor for the State of Connecticut and numerous towns across Central Connecticut, supporting major fleets statewide. Leveraging my extensive knowledge and dealership experience, I have helped the state in several key areas, including optimizing parts procurement and establishing an in-house warranty program with Ford, later expanded to General Motors. These initiatives significantly improved efficiency and reduced vehicle warranty repair turnaround times for our client.

3. What achievements at the State of Connecticut are you most proud of, and what impact have they had?

One of the achievements I'm most proud of is leading the transition from aftermarket parts to OEM parts for our fleet operations. This change allowed the State of Connecticut to take advantage of manufacturer programs and incentives, resulting in significant cost savings for taxpayers. Beyond financial benefits, this shift improved vehicle reliability and reduced downtime, ensuring that state agencies could operate more efficiently and deliver better service to the public.

4. What advice would you give to someone considering a career with the State of Connecticut?

My advice would be to start your career with a mindset of continuous learning. Work hard, learn from your peers, and build on that knowledge by bringing fresh ideas that can benefit the state. Strong communication and collaboration with coworkers are essential.

Success in this environment comes from teamwork and a willingness to innovate.

5. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of your work, and how do they enrich your life?

I used to enjoy a variety of hobbies and activities, but due to a recent health scare had to adjust my lifestyle. This experience has taught me the importance of resilience and in finding new ways to stay engaged and positive. Now, I focus on activities that promote well-being, such as reading, learning new things, and spending quality time with family and friends. These pursuits enrich my life by keeping me mentally active and connected.

6. Could you share a memorable travel experience and what made that destination special for you?

I haven't traveled extensively, but one memorable experience was visiting my parents' condo in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. What made it special was the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sunsets, and the chance to spend quality time with family by the ocean. Those visits created lasting memories and gave me an appreciation for relaxing, scenic destinations.

7.  What's your favorite spot in Connecticut, and what makes it special to you?

My favorite spot in Connecticut is the shoreline. It's special to me because of its natural beauty, the peaceful beaches, stunning views of Long Island Sound, and the relaxing atmosphere make it a perfect escape. Whether it's enjoying a quiet walk along the water or watching a sunset, the shoreline offers a sense of calm and connection to nature that I truly appreciate.

8.  If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it to make a difference?

If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to go back in time with the knowledge I have now. I'd use it to revisit a few business decisions, maybe change some, maybe not, but at least I'd look like a genius the second time around!

9.  Who is the person you admire, and what qualities do they possess that inspire you?

I admire my father for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to providing for our family. His commitment, resilience, and sense of responsibility have always inspired me to work hard, stay grounded, and prioritize the well-being of those around me.

10.  What's an interesting or fun fact?

Fun fact: I'm never at a loss for words... unless someone asks me for a fun fact!
