Berlin

The Berlin Train Station is a modernized facility developed as part of the Hartford Line Rail Program to enhance regional rail service and passenger experience. Located at 51 Depot Road, adjacent to the historic Berlin Station site, the new station was constructed prior to the launch of Hartford Line service in June 2018. It serves both Amtrak and Hartford Line trains, offering improved accessibility, safety, and multimodal connectivity.

Station amenities include:

  • High-level platforms to facilitate safe and efficient passenger boarding 
  • Stairways and two elevators connecting to an overhead pedestrian bridge for safe and convenient access between platforms 
  • Overhead canopies to shelter passengers 
  • Automatic snow melting system to quickly melt snow and ice during inclement weather for passenger safety 
  • Passenger information display system providing real-time rail service updates 
  • Security cameras and Blue Light emergency call boxes
  • Bicycle racks and vehicle charging station

Berlin Station

Enfield

The proposed Enfield Train Station, part of the Hartford Line Rail Program, is a key infrastructure investment aimed at enhancing regional mobility and economic development in northern Connecticut. Located in the Thompsonville section of Enfield near Main Street and South River Street, the station will serve as a vital link between Springfield, Hartford, and New Haven, offering residents and visitors a reliable and sustainable alternative to automobile travel. The station is designed to accommodate future service expansions and multimodal connections, including integration with local bus routes and pedestrian access. It also supports transit-oriented development goals by improving accessibility and encouraging compact, mixed-use growth near the rail corridor.

Hartford

Hartford Union Station is a central hub in the Hartford Line Rail Program, serving as a vital link in Connecticut’s regional and intercity transportation network. Located at 1 Union Place in downtown Hartford, the station connects passengers to Amtrak’s Northeast Regional, Vermonter, and Valley Flyer services, and CTfastrak bus rapid transit. As part of the Hartford Line Rail Program infrastructure upgrades, Hartford Union Station underwent significant improvements completed in August 2016, including platform enhancements and track modernization. These upgrades have improved accessibility, safety, and service reliability, reinforcing the station’s role as a gateway to New England and a catalyst for transit-oriented development in the capital region.

Meriden

The Meriden Train Station is a modern facility developed as part of the Hartford Line Rail Program to improve regional mobility and passenger experience. Located across from Meriden Green at 60 State Street, the station opened to the public in November 2017 following a $21 million construction effort that began in 2014.

Station amenities include:

Meridan Station

New Haven Union

New Haven Union Station

The New Haven Union Station is a cornerstone of the Hartford Line Rail Program, serving as the southern terminus of the New Haven–Hartford–Springfield corridor. Strategically located in downtown New Haven, the station connects passengers to Metro-North, Shore Line East, and Amtrak services, making it a vital hub for regional and intercity travel. New Haven Union

Newington

The proposed Newington Train Station is part of Phase 4 of the Hartford Line Rail Program, aimed at expanding passenger rail service and improving regional connectivity across central Connecticut. Located near Central Connecticut State University in the town of Newington, this future station is strategically positioned to serve commuters traveling between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. While still pending final support and funding, the station is included in CTDOT’s long-term infrastructure plans and is expected to contribute to transit-oriented development and multimodal access in the area. Its inclusion reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing mobility, reducing traffic congestion, and supporting sustainable growth along the Hartford Line corridor.

Planned amenities include:

North Haven

The North Haven Train Station is a planned addition to the Hartford Line Rail Program, designed to enhance regional connectivity along the New Haven–Springfield corridor. Located near Route 40 and Route 5 in North Haven, Connecticut, the station will serve as a key transit hub for commuters traveling between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. Historically, North Haven has hosted several rail stations since 1838, and this new facility marks a return of passenger service to the area after decades of absence.

Planned station amenities include:

  • Two tracks to support increased train frequency and bidirectional service
  • 202-space parking lot to accommodate commuters

Springfield

The Springfield Union Station in Springfield, Massachusetts is a key northern terminus of the Hartford Line Rail Program, serving as a multimodal transportation hub that connects Connecticut to broader regional and national rail networks. Located at 55 Frank B. Murray Street in Springfield Metro Center, the station underwent a major restoration culminating in the opening of Platform C, which marked the final phase of its transformation. This platform supports ADA-accessible boarding and integrates Amtrak and CTrail services, making it a vital link for passengers traveling between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield. The station also supports future service expansions into Vermont and Massachusetts, reinforcing its role in the regional rail vision.

Station amenities include: 

  • 328-foot high-level platform (Platform C) for ADA-accessible boarding
  • Elevator with enclosed vestibule connect the concourse to Platform C
  • Reconstructed enclosed stairway for direct platform access 
  • Canopy roof using original steel structure to preserve historic character

Springfield Station

State Street

The New Haven State Street Station is a key component of the Hartford Line Rail Program, offering enhanced access to downtown New Haven and serving as a vital link in Connecticut’s regional rail network. Located just a half mile northeast of Union Station, two blocks from New Haven Green, it supports commuter rail services including CTrail Hartford Line, Shore Line East, Amtrak, and limited Metro-North trains. Originally constructed in 2002 and expanded in 2018 for the Hartford Line launch, the station features two platforms that accommodate both eastbound and westbound travel. Its strategic location and multimodal connectivity make it an important hub for passengers traveling to New York City, Stamford, Hartford, and Springfield.

Station amenities include:

  • Two-car-long high-level island platform (Tracks 4 and 6) with full canopy coverage 
  • Four-car-long side platform (Track 1) with partial canopy coverage
  • Hydronic heating system for passenger comfort 
  • Four-track configuration with bidirectional bypass track for operational flexibility

State Street Station

Wallingford

The Wallingford Train Station is a modern facility developed as part of the Hartford Line Rail Program to enhance regional rail service and improve passenger experience. Located at 343 North Cherry Street, with additional access from North Colony Road (Route 5), the station officially opened in advance of the Hartford Line’s launch in May 2018. Built at a cost of approximately $21 million, the station replaced the previous facility and now serves both Amtrak and Hartford Line trains. It plays a key role in connecting Wallingford to major destinations along the I-91 corridor, including New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield, and supports transit-oriented development in the surrounding area.

Wallingford Station

West Hartford

The proposed West Hartford Train Station is a future addition to the Hartford Line Rail Program, designed to improve regional connectivity and support transit-oriented development in central Connecticut. Located next to CTfastrak Flatbush Avenue Station at 285 Newfield Avenue in the Elmwood neighborhood, the station will be adjacent to an existing CTfastrak stop, making it a key multimodal hub. The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has identified West Hartford as a strategic site due to its strong ridership potential and proximity to residential and commercial areas. The station is part of Phase 4 of the Hartford Line infrastructure plan and is currently in the design stage, with CTDOT actively seeking federal funding to support its construction.

Planned amenities include:

West Hartford

Windsor

The new Windsor Train Station in Connecticut is a planned upgrade under Phase 4 of the Hartford Line Rail Program, designed to replace the existing facility with a modern, accessible, and expanded station. Located behind Town Hall in downtown Windsor, the new station will feature longer platforms and pedestrian structures to accommodate increased ridership and improve accessibility. This investment is part of a broader effort by CTDOT to enhance regional rail service, reduce traffic congestion, and support transit-oriented development along the New Haven–Hartford–Springfield corridor. The station will serve both CTrail Hartford Line and Amtrak passengers and is expected to play a key role in connecting Windsor to major employment centers and urban hubs across New England.

Windsor Station

Windsor Locks

The Department is in the process of constructing a new station on the Hartford Line in Windsor Locks, CT. This station will include a single high-level platform, a multi-use trail with connections to the Canal Trail via Bridge Street, parking, and other amenities similar to the newly constructed Hartford Line Stations.  The 510-foot-long platform will be fully ADA compliant, with level-boarding from every train car.  The station is to be relocated to downtown Windsor Locks near Town Hall and the Public Library.  The project also includes reconstruction of Route 159, closing of Church Street at Route 159, and improvements to nearly 1.5 miles of mainline track. This project would also complement the town’s new Transit-Oriented Development Area (TOD) in downtown Windsor Locks and the development at Montgomery Mills.

Planned amenities include: 

  • High-level platform for level boarding from all train cars 
  • Bus drop-off area with passenger shelter, including shuttle service to Bradley International Airport
  • Surface parking, including ADA-accessible and “kiss and ride” spaces
  • Future-ready design to accommodate a second platform and track
  • Roadway and utility improvements, including sidewalk upgrades and traffic signal relocation
  • Proximity to historic Windsor Locks station, preserving the town’s rail heritage
