• Is a building official license a requirement under the Department of Consumer Protection?+
  Answer: No. It is required under Connecticut General Statutes (CGS), Chapter 541, and is administered by the Department of Administrative Services. 
• Do exams given by municipalities or the International Code Council (ICC) for building official credentials count toward the state building official exam?+
  Answer: No. Building code enforcement licensure examinations are administered only through the Office of Education and Data Management, Department of Administrative Services.
• I am in the process of interviewing candidates for a building official position. Can I get verification of the date the person earned his/her license, and the number of continuing education credits s/he has earned?+
  Answer: Yes and no. We can provide you with the date the candidate earned licensure and if s/he is still licensed, but not the number of continuing education credits earned.
