It's time for better rail service in Connecticut. Faster and more direct rail service with better connections within Connecticut and to New York City will take cars off the roads and enhance access to economic opportunity. CTDOT, in partnership with Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak, will offer Connecticut residents and customers increased train speeds, decreased travel times, and enhanced service.

 

 
 
 

Project Spotlights

A new service operated by Metro-North Railroad on the New Haven Line between New Haven Union Station and Grand Central Terminal cuts the journey time to 90 minutes, saving customers 10 minutes.

New infrastructure and safety improvements to the Waterbury Branch enabled a 47% increase in weekday service, with new service in the early morning and during off-peak hours.

CTDOT is coordinating with our partners to adjust Hartford Line schedules to better serve our customers. Commuters traveling from stations along the Hartford Line to New York City can take advantage of arrival times at Penn Station that align with typical office hours and timed connections between the Hartford and New Haven Lines.
