TIME FOR CT represents Governor Lamont’s comprehensive, multi-year plan to rebuild, improve, and expand the Connecticut rail network. Introduced in 2021 and informed by a foot-by-foot analysis of the speed and capacity constraints and capabilities of the New Haven Line, CTDOT has been working to turn this vision into reality. By investing in trains, tracks, stations, and bridges, this initiative will spur economic development and reduce congestion and pollution by creating faster, more direct service to Connecticut communities and beyond. A faster, more resilient rail network will increase access to communities across Connecticut, reducing congestion and creating more opportunities for residents.

Coordination with agency partners will be essential to delivering TIME FOR CT. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has already invested billions of dollars into Connecticut, with additional funds expected in the coming years.

Descriptions of specific projects and initiatives are available on the Service, Infrastructure, and Rail Fleet pages below.

TIME FOR CT focuses on three core elements: service, infrastructure, and Connecticut's rail fleet. These investments, each essential to achieving the complete vision, will speed up trains and shorten travel times. To learn more, select one of the core elements below.
