(Wethersfield, CT) – Today, Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL) Commissioner Danté Bartolomeo released the November 2023 jobs report showing that the state’s employers added an estimated 500 jobs in November. Connecticut’s unemployment rate remained below the national average for the fourth consecutive month at 3.6%, and the labor force expanded by 1,171 workers. October job gains were revised to 3,400 from 3,700.
Commissioner Bartolomeo said, “Connecticut’s economy remains strong and steady with balanced job growth across industries. We continue to see workforce expansion, which is good news for employers who are trying to recruit from a smaller post-pandemic labor pool. With more than 75,000 jobs posted in Connecticut, more workers coming off the sidelines creates opportunity for both employers and job seekers—and will keep our economy headed in the right direction.”
CTDOL Office of Research Director Patrick Flaherty said, “This is a solid jobs report. Connecticut has entered a period of steady, sustainable job growth and low unemployment—a condition that will persist as long as the national economy continues to avoid recession.”
Employers have 75,000 jobs posted across a broad cross section of industries. The state has about 23,000 weekly unemployment filers.
Highlights from the Report:
- Connecticut has fully recovered from the pandemic job losses and has 1,698,900 payroll jobs.
- To date, private sector employers have added 20,700 jobs in 2023.
- Five of 10 industry supersectors saw job gains or remained unchanged in November.
- Administrative and Support Services saw a decline of 1,800 jobs, primarily related to reduced demand for building services such as maintenance and landscaping. This is due to a number of factors including weather, improved technology, and fewer people in office buildings.
- Connecticut’s current unemployment rate is 0.4% lower than it was a year ago.
