Attending your unemployment appeal hearing

If you don’t show up for your appeal hearing, you will probably lose the case. If you don't attend because of an emergency, please call us as soon as possible to reschedule your hearing. You may be able to reschule it if you can prove you had "good cause," such as a sudden illness, a car accident, or a personal emergency. Proof can be a police report, a diagnosis and treatment report from a doctor or medical facility, or similar.

Oversleeping, being in a job interview, an unexpected appointment, forgetting, someone did not remind you, or loosing the hearing notice are not "good cause."
