On August 8, the State Bond Commission approved $2 million for upgrades to the Connecticut Building at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. Each year, the Connecticut Building, located in the Avenue of the States and maintained by the Department of Administrative Services, sees more than 1 million visitors during the Big E fair, which runs from September 13 through September 29, 2024.

The funding approved by the Bond Commission will go towards a full roof replacement, exterior repairs, soffits and gutters, brick facade improvements, painting, and interior electrical upgrades. Look for this work to begin following the 2025 Big E.

In the meantime, the interior of the building will have a new look and feel in 2024, as our partners in the Department of Economic and Community Development have made changes to the setup of the booths and upgraded the décor to meet the state’s new “Make it Here” branding campaign.

We hope you have the chance to check out the improvements to the building this year and in the future.
