Proposed CTtransit Bus Service Changes

March 2025: Upcoming Open Houses

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct two in-person open houses for the proposed CTtransit bus service changes on March 18 and 19, 2025. The bipartisan budget adopted earlier last year included a funding increase for CTtransit bus service in Connecticut. For more information view the schedule of upcoming open houses. There are no proposed rail changes at this time.

Comments on the proposed bus service changes can also be submitted via email, voicemail, US mail, or New Haven and Hartford public libraries. Learn how to submit a comment.

Transit Service Change and Equity Analysis Process

When fare and/or service changes are proposed to the state's bus and rail services, it is important that the public is informed of these changes and allowed the opportunity to comment. Undertaking a formal equity analysis is how the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) evaluates proposed bus and rail service or fare changes to determine if they will cause a disparate impact to minority persons or a disproportionate burden to people with low incomes, as defined by the CTDOT’s Title VI Program. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color and national origin. By conducting these analyses, CTDOT can make informed decisions about route planning, service changes, and resource allocation. This helps build a more customer focused and streamlined transit system that serves the needs of our communities.

2025 Proposed CTtransit Service Changes

Bus service changes range from introduction of new routes, expansion of service hours and service frequencies, modifications of routes, and discontinuations of some routes/services for an overall more streamlined and customer-focused system. Changes are proposed for the CTtransit New Haven and Hartford division local systems, Hartford Express, and CTfastrak.
