What are the details?
By making better use of the existing I-84 footprint, the Flex Lane would create a more reliable and efficient experience for everyone.
The Flex Lane on I-84 would be installed between Exits 3 and 7 in Danbury. This stretch of interstate, approximately four miles long, has been identified as a high-congestion area. The Flex Lane would be constructed within the existing right of way on the median shoulder.
While the Flex Lane would operate between Exits 4 and 7, the overall project limit extends past those areas as shown above. This is to accommodate additional improvements to maintain our transportation system in a state of good repair, which means continually improving the safety and condition of our roadways. In total, the project is estimated to cost $250 million. This investment will cover both Flex Lane improvements and state of good repair investments.
