Tracking your job search

You must track your work search activities while receiving unemployment benefits. We may ask to review your list at any time. If you can’t provide information about your search, you may be denied benefits for the week and you may also have to pay back benefits you already received.

For extended benefits claimants: If the Department of Labor determines that you didn’t do your required job search activities, you won’t be eligible for benefit payments until you become employed for four subsequent weeks. You must also earn wages that are at least four times your weekly benefit amount. See section 31-232 of the Connecticut General Statutes.

If you are selected for the Unemployment Insurance Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (UI RESEA) program, your work search efforts for the week prior to your RESEA meeting will be reviewed during your mandatory meeting. If you aren't making a reasonable effort to find a job, you may not receive benefits for that week.
