Examples of work search activities

If you are filing for unemployment benefits, you must finish at least three job search activities each week and report them in your weekly claim. Examples of work search activities include:

  • Contacting an employer for the first time about full-time work
    • You must contact at least one employer every week
  • Attending a job interview in person, by phone, online, or in some other way
  • Attending a workshop provided by an American Job Center
  • Attending a job fair
  • Attending a networking event hosted by a business or organization
  • Participating in re-employment service activities provided by an American Job Center
  • Creating a re-employment plan
  • Creating a resume
  • Uploading your resume to CTHires.com
  • Creating a profile on a professional networking site such as LinkedIn
  • Taking employment-related classes
