Q: Where can I file a labor complaint or get mediation to solve a dispute?
A: The CT State Board of Labor Relations protects the statutory rights of public sector and some private sector employees to form, join or assist labor organizations. It encourages and protects the right of employees and employers to bargain collectively and remedies certain practices on the part of employers and unions that are detrimental to the collective bargaining process and to the general public. The CT State Board of Mediation and Arbitration provides binding arbitration services for grievance complaints; assistance in interpreting union agreements; no-cost mediation services to resolve disputes involving terms and provisions in collective bargaining agreements; and mediation services for any disputes that arise during the negotiation over the terms of a new or successor collective bargaining agreement.
