Building Code Enforcement Officials and Fire Officials are required to earn continuing education credits to maintain their license or certification. The number of credits needed is based on the credential. All training cycles are three-years in length.

If you take a live or online class from a provider other than the Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM), it may count toward your three-year licensure and certification requirements.

The Office of Education and Data Management (OEDM) provides Special Offerings and Conferences as alternative forums to our three-hour Career Development classes that are offered multiple times. Special Offerings classes are typically longer in length and often feature hands-on or specialized training; the classes are presented once or twice.

Code Training and Education Fund Board of Control
The Code Training and Education Board of Control approves the fiscal year budget of the Office of Education and Data Management OEDM), which carries out the credentialing functions of the Office of the State Building Inspector and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
