Interest rate on overpayment balance
Per Connecticut law, when you are assessed with a fraud overpayment, you are charged 1% interest each month on the amount of unemployment overpayment you still owe. For example, if you owe $100, we'll charge you $1 in interest every month.
Interest is not charged on the monetary penalty portion of your overpayment. You can avoid interest by submitting payment in full, within 90 days from the date on your Notice of Overpayment Determination.
Always be sure to properly report all your part-time wages and your accurate return to work date to avoid fraud overpayments from occurring.
Please DO NOT send or bring payments to DOL’s physical address of 200 Folly Brook Boulevard in Wethersfield as that will delay the processing of your payment.
