Employer Seminars
Employment Discrimination Law 101
Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 10am to 12pm
This session provides a foundational overview of Connecticut’s employment discrimination laws and the obligations enforced by the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO). Designed specifically for employers, the seminar will break down the state’s protected classes, outline common risk areas, and explain the documentation necessary to defend against discrimination complaints.
Participants will also gain a practical understanding of the “life cycle of liability,” following the employer’s responsibilities from hiring through termination. The session concludes with a step by step walkthrough of the CHRO administrative process—from the initial filing of a complaint to a final public hearing.
Topics to be Covered Include:
- What constitutes a protected class
- Employment actions that may be considered discriminatory
- When an employee may be entitled to a reasonable accommodation
- Strategies to prevent retaliation
- What employers can expect when involved in a CHRO case
