Before you begin: Use an email address that you can access. If you previously used CT Gateway, use the same email address associated with your existing account so your access can be connected correctly.
Start Here
Go to the CT Gateway login page.
On the login page, select CT.gov Login. You will be directed to the CT.gov identity service to sign in or create an account.
Which instructions should you follow?
- If you have never created a CT.gov account: Section 1 — Create a CT.gov account and access CT Gateway
- If you already have a CT.gov account: Section 2 — Sign in with your existing CT.gov account
Section 1 — Create a CT.gov Account and Access CT Gateway
Use these steps when you do not already have a CT.gov account.
- Open the CT Gateway login page.
- Select CT.gov Login.
- Choose the option to create or register a new CT.gov account: The wording may appear as Create Account, Register, or a similar option.
- Enter your account information. Provide the requested information, including your email address, name, and password.
- Verify your email address, if prompted. Open the verification message sent to your email and follow the instructions in that message.
- Complete the CT.gov sign-in process. After your account is created, sign in using your CT.gov email address and password.
- Return to CT Gateway. After successful sign-in, you should be redirected automatically to CT Gateway. Your CT Gateway account will be created or connected using your email address.
- Confirm your access. Verify that you can see the expected dashboard, applications, and menu options.
Important: Do not create a second account with a different email address if you have previously used CT Gateway. Using the same email address helps preserve your existing access and permissions.

- Open the CT Gateway login page.
- Select CT.gov Login.
- Enter your existing CT.gov account credentials. Use the email address and password associated with your CT.gov account.
- Complete any verification step that appears. Depending on your account settings, you may be asked to complete an additional identity or security verification step.
- Return to CT Gateway. After successful sign-in, you should be redirected automatically to CT Gateway.
- Confirm your access. Verify that you can see the expected dashboard, applications, and menu options.
Existing CT Gateway users: Use the same email address associated with your current CT Gateway account. The system uses your email address to connect your CT.gov identity with your existing CT Gateway access.

- Select Logout.
- Wait for the login or logout confirmation page to appear.
- Close the browser window when using a shared or public computer. After logout, protected CT Gateway pages should require you to sign in again.
Troubleshooting
- Forgot your CT.gov password: Use the password recovery option on the CT.gov sign-in page.
- Did not receive a verification email: Check your spam or junk folder, confirm that the email address was entered correctly, and use the resend option if available.
- You are returned to CT Gateway but cannot access the expected application: Confirm that you signed in with the same email address previously used for CT Gateway. Contact support if access is still missing.
- You see an error page, blank page, or repeated redirect: Close the browser, open a new private/incognito window, and try again. If the issue continues, record the time of the error and take a screenshot before contacting support.
- You accidentally created an account with the wrong email address: Do not create additional accounts. Contact support for assistance connecting the correct account.
