Welcome to the webpage for Project No. PP0130-0025, Replacement of Bridge No. 02437 Carrying Rt. 67 (Southford Road) over South Branch Bullet Hill Brook in Southbury.
An in-person public informational meeting for the project was held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Southbury Town Hall in Room 205A at 501 Main Street South in Southbury at 7:00 p.m.
The recording will be posted following the meeting on the town of Southbury's video archives page.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation.
The project involves the temporary bridge which carries Route 67 over South Branch Bullet Hill Brook in Southbury. This bridge was constructed due the August 2024 rain event which washed out Bridge No. 02437. The purpose of this project is to remove the temporary bridge and install a permanent structure that will improve safety for all roadway users by addressing sight line concerns, widen shoulders, and improve the flow of traffic by eliminating the existing traffic signal.
The right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements are temporary to town owned property to allow for channel reconstruction and construction staging.
Construction is expected to start in summer 2027, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $7 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
