Ineligible workers
Some workers are not eligible for unemployment benefits, including:
- Newspaper carriers under 18
- Insurance agents (not industrial life insurance agents)
- Real estate agents paid only by commissions
- Sole proprietors and partners
- Children under 21 employed by a parent, and anyone employed by their spouse
- Outside sales representatives of for-profit travel agencies
- Elected officials, members of a legislative body or judiciary, some temporary employees, and certain other high-level political employees of a town, city or subdivision.
- People with certain religious or church-related employment
- People who work in Connecticut while covered under unemployment laws of other state (for example, railroad workers)
