Unemployment benefits and self-employment

You may or may not receive unemployment benefits if you are self-employed:

  • If you're self-employed while filing for unemployment benefits, a fact-finding will be conducted to determine if you are able and available for full-time work.  If you are determined to be eligible, any earnings in self-employment need to be reported. CTDOL will reduce your weekly benefit by 2/3 of the amount of any payment you receive.
