Resilience in Flux: U.S. and Connecticut Labor Market Update
Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 10am to 11:30am
Despite multiple international crises, the U.S. and Connecticut labor markets have remained remarkably stable. While rising, the unemployment rate remains low by historic standards and job openings remain near pre-pandemic highs.
The CT Department of Labor’s Patrick Flaherty, Director of the Office of Research, will discuss the U.S. and Connecticut economies and labor markets as the “new normal” we entered over a year ago has persisted.
Topics will Include:
- Industry patterns of employment change.
- Which occupations have the most job openings.
- Demographic changes in the labor force.
- How migration (both across state lines and international) has affected the Connecticut population.
- Regional differences in industry structure within Connecticut.
