What do you do?
I am a Fire and Life Safety Specialist for the Office of State Fire Marshal in DAS Construction Services. I conduct fire code inspections of State Buildings, review constructions plans and oversee state building projects.
Why do you work for the State of Connecticut?
This job is my second career as a Fire Marshal, I enjoy working as a Fire Marshal inspecting buildings and Overseeing fire codes for new construction.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is working with great coworkers and the public.
What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT in my community serving as an Assistant Chief at the Oakdale Fire Company. I enjoy helping people. I have been doing this since 1978 when I was 16 years old. Also, I enjoy family time.
Where is your favorite place that you have traveled?
A cruise to different stops in Mexico and Honduras with my entire family in April of 2023.
What would you tell someone who is interested in working for the state?
The State of CT is a great place to work, with fair pay and great benefits. It's almost like a second family.
Where is your favorite place in Connecticut? Waterford Connecticut, Harkness Memorial State Park along Connecticut's coastline, very beautiful.
Who inspires you and why?
It is not who inspires me, it is all of the volunteers in the fire and EMS service who give copious amounts of time to their community for no pay, but just enjoy the feeling of helping their neighbors.
