(HARTFORD, CT) – The Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Michelle Gilman announced today the launch of the State of Connecticut Executive Branch Workforce Dashboard (“Dashboard”) on the Open Data Portal, which provides live statistics and graphs highlighting Connecticut’s growing Executive Branch workforce. The Dashboard’s development is part of DAS’ continued modernization efforts.
“At DAS, we are committed to transparency. DAS’s creation of the Executive Branch Workforce Dashboard allows anyone to view data anytime showing how our workforce has changed over recent years and months,” Commissioner Gilman said. “I'm proud of the work our Talent Solutions Team has accomplished in this competitive marketplace and look forward to continuing to utilize creative recruitment strategies to attract a skilled and diverse workforce to the State of Connecticut.”
“The data speaks for itself: Overall, Connecticut’s workforce is stable, and in some instances growing. The dashboard will be an important resource for tracking the latest trends in the workforce,” Gilman said. “We continue to build on successes and collaborate with our agency partners to fill high-need positions, specifically positions in healthcare, engineering, and information technology.”
The dashboard presents data about the portion of the Executive Branch workforce in Connecticut where the human resources responsibilities are handled centrally by the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). While the dashboard contains easy-to-navigate charts and graphs showing trends over time, the Open Data Portal also houses the datasets backing visuals users can download and manipulate on their own. Not included in the data are the judicial branch, the legislative branch, constitutional offices, higher education, and other Executive Branch agencies whose human resources responsibilities are not handled by DAS. The Office of Policy Management’s Data and Policy Analytics unit developed the website and is coordinating the publication of the data.
Included on the dashboard is data on Executive Branch employee counts overall, as well as employee data broken down by agency and by bargaining class. The dashboard also provides data on filled vacancies (i.e., positions that are filled, including new hires, rehires, and transfers) by fiscal year and by agency type. DAS plans to utilize the Open Data Portal in the future for the posting of additional workforce information as well as other types of data.
