Overview
Connecticut’s State Fire Prevention Code and State Fire Safety Code are administered by the State Fire Marshal in conjunction with an advisory committee and the Codes and Standards Committee, respectively.
Connecticut State Fire Safety Code Modifications
- The State Fire Marshal reviews requests for modifications to the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code.
- Read the Modification Procedure and download the applicable Application Request for Application or Educational Sprinkler Modification Form.
- Mail the application with supporting documentation to the Local Fire Marshal for review. After supporting/not supporting the request, the Local Fire Marshal will mail the application to the State Fire Marshal for review.
Announcement – Adoption of the 2020 State Building and Fire Safety Codes
The State Building Inspector, State Fire Marshal and the Codes and Standards Committee announce their intent to adopt the 2020 State Building and Fire Safety Codes based on the 2018 editions of the International Code Council (ICC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) documents. Technical review of these codes will be conducted by the Committee’s Code Adoption Subcommittee (CAS) along with DAS staff. This review will begin January 2017 and is planned to be completed July 2017. Details regarding the process and schedule can be found on our Code Adoption Webpage.
