Welcome to the webpage for Project No. 0310-0076, Court Street Bridge and State Street Station Improvements in New Haven.
An in-person public informational meeting for the project will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at High School in the Community at 175 Water Street in New Haven. The meeting location is ADA accessible.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.
The project involves modernizing and converting the Court Street Bridge to pedestrian-only use and adding a connection to State Street Station to enhance station accessibility. This includes bridge rehabilitation/replacement, paving, sidewalk improvements, guardrails and upgraded fencing.
Additional improvements to State Street Station will be performed under a separate project and include replacing and extending the existing island platform as well as new and rehabilitated elevator and stair connections.
Right-of-way impacts are expected to occur at several properties in the project area.
Construction is expected to start in spring 2027 for the Court Street Bridge and spring 2029 for State Street Station, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $16 million for Court Street and $97 million for State Street Station. The project design is being funded with 100% state funds and opportunities will be explored to include federal funding for the construction of Court Street.
