Project 0301-0563 Webpage

Welcome to the webpage for Project Number 0301-0563, Safety and Operational Improvements to the Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge in Westport.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The recording of that event can be accessed at the CTDOT Virtual Public Information Meeting Video Library.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the community with an opportunity to learn about the proposed project and allow an open discussion of any views and comments concerning the proposed improvements. A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation.

The purpose of the project is to replace the access ladders, upper-level platforms, and the guy wires located on the two (2) catenary high towers at the Saugatuck River (SAGA) Railroad Bridge (Bridge 08032R) in Westport.  The guy wires extend across the Saugatuck River between the towers and terminate at the catenary structures located on the opposite side of each tower.

Right-of-way impacts are not associated with the proposed project.

Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025. The estimated construction cost for this project is projected to be about $5 million, with 100% state funds.
