Project 0147-0063

Welcome to the webpage for the Replacement of Bridge No. 01012 Carrying Route 49 (Ekonk Hill Rd) over the Pachaug River in Voluntown.

A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on November 3, 2026, at 6:00 pm.

This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions.

This project will update the deteriorating simple span multi-girder structure and bring it up to current roadway standards. The superstructure consists of cast-in-place concrete tee-beams that show significant deterioration from age.

Rights-of-way impact will be minimal.

Construction is expected to start spring 2029, depending on funding, right(s)-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated construction cost is $7 million with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
