Welcome to the webpage for Project 0109-0174, the Replacement of Bridge No. 02214 carrying Crooked St. over Pan Am Railroad in Plainville.

 

An in-person public informational meeting for the project will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Plainville Municipal Center located at 1 Central SquareThe meeting location is ADA accessible. This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. 

 

The purpose of the project is to address the bridge’s deficiencies by replacing the structure with an upgraded design that will improve driver safety. The roadway profile will also be raised up to 3 feet vertically over the bridge and north along Cooked St. before tying into the existing profile at the Route 372 intersection.

 

Right-of-way impacts include slope easements, right to grade, guiderail easements, right to construct driveway and temporary construction easementsConstruction is expected to start summer 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $19 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
