Welcome to the webpage for Project No. 0109-0173 Farmington Canal Heritage Trail (FCHT) Phase 3 from Norton Park to Route 72 in Plainville.
A public informational meeting for the project was held on November 20, 2025, at Plainville High School, 47 Robert Holcomb Way, Plainville, CT 06062. This meeting will begin as an open house at 5:00 p.m. where individuals can view project related renderings and discuss any questions for the CTDOT project staff. A formal design presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer questions from the community and local stakeholders. The project involves constructing a multi-use trail through Plainville in order to close the final remaining gap in the Connecticut section of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
Right-of-way impacts will affect Norton Park for the construction of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail.
Construction is expected to start in spring 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $28 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
