Welcome to the webpage for Project No. 107-181, Replacement of Bridge No. 00944 Carrying Route 34 over Eight Mile Brook in Oxford.
An in-person public informational meeting for the project was held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the Oxford Town Hall Main Room, at 486 Oxford Road, at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this project is to replace the temporary structure that was built after the August 2024 flooding event with a new bridge that will ease traffic impacts and improve safety for all roadway users. The bridge is located at mile post 7.48, approximately 2 miles west of Route 188.
The existing structure is an Acrow 700XS Panel Bridge System constructed in October 2024. The bridge has a span of 79.5 feet, and a curb-to-curb width of 30 feet. The average daily traffic (ADT) is approximately 9,800 vehicles per day with a 4% truck traffic (2021).
Temporary right-of-way acquisitions will include easements to accommodate temporary construction activities.
Construction is expected to start spring 2027, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $8 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
