Project 0065-0116 Webpage

Welcome to the webpage for Project 0065-0116, Replacement of Bridge No. 01947 Carrying Route 4 over a Brook in Harwinton. 

A virtual public informational meeting for the project was held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. 

This project will replace an ageing structure to ensure long-term crossing of this brook as well as improve bicycle safety along this section of Route 4. The existing structure will be replaced with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert and new reinforced concrete wingwalls. The roadway will be widened to improve bicycle access and raised to improve drainage across the structure. Drainage structures within the project limits will be modified accordingly.

The right-of-way impact associated with the proposed improvements involves a temporary construction easement to temporarily relocate a private driveway.

Construction is expected to start spring 2028, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $3 million with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
