Welcome to the webpage for Project No. 0042-0331 Rehabilitation of Bridge No 00374 Carrying Route 2 over the Hockanum River in East Hartford.
A virtual public informational meeting for the project will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
This meeting aims to inform the community about the proposed project, gather feedback, and answer any questions. This meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded.
The purpose of this project is to address the deficiencies identified in the CTDOT Bridge Inspection Report affecting Bridge No. 00374—improving the condition, extending the service life of the bridge, and providing safe travel conditions for all facility users.
The project will primarily consist of repairing and strengthening localized areas of both the steel concrete superstructures. Improvements are also planned for the section of the Hockanum Linear Park Trail located below Bridge No. 00374 between the East Coast Greenway and East River Drive.
Right-of-way impacts are not anticipated. Construction is expected to start in spring of 2028 depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $17.4 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
