Traffic Control Signal Revisions in Various Connecticut Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to remove the nighttime flashing operation, install 360-degree stop bar detection cameras, add dilemma zone detection radar units, and add pedestrian countdown timers at locations that have existing exclusive pedestrian phases at 28 state-owned and maintained traffic signals in Western Connecticut.

The following intersections are included:

  • Farmington – U.S. Route 6 (Colt Highway) at I-84 WB Off-Ramp & Wolf Pit Road
  • Farmington - Route 4 (Farmington Avenue) at Route 167 (West Avon Road)

  • Watertown - Route 262 (Frost Bridge Road) at Park Road
  • Watertown - SR 855 (Buckingham Street) at French Street
  • Woodbury – U.S. Route 6 (Main Street South) at Middle Quarter Road

It is CTDOT policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

The design plans for this project are expected to be completed by July 2023 with a tentative advertising date for construction of September 2023.
