The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced additional train service and schedule improvements on the Hartford Line (HL) that make rail travel easier and more convenient for customers.
These improvements include a new weekday round-trip train between New Haven and Hartford, an extended weekday morning southbound CTrail train that will now originate in Springfield, and extended weekend trains to and from Hartford that stop at the Windsor and Windsor Locks stations. The CTrail service updates are in addition to Amtrak service changes that are taking effect the same day. Passengers can find the updated HL schedule online.
CTDOT was awarded grant funding through the Federal Railroad Administration’s Restoration & Enhancement Program to support the Expanded CTrail Hartford Line Enhancement Project. In addition to the schedule improvements beginning November 16, the FRA grant is funding additional customer service hours at Hartford Union Station, which will take effect in January.
“Whether you are heading to work, school, an appointment, or visiting friends and family, this additional service on the Hartford Line will give travelers more options to get where they need to go,” Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto said. “We look forward to implementing these changes, which are part of continued historic investment in public transportation across the state. Thank you to the Federal Railroad Administration for supporting our investments in the Hartford Line.”
HL passengers are encouraged to pre-purchase their rail tickets before boarding. CTrail passengers may purchase their tickets using the CTrail eTix mobile ticketing app or at any CTrail ticket vending machine located at all Hartford Line Stations.
Riders are encouraged to sign up for alerts sent directly to their phone or email at servicealerts.ctrail.com. Don’t forget to review your preferences to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information for your travels. Preferences may need updating after each schedule change.
