The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will conduct a virtual public information meeting concerning the Rocky Hill/Glastonbury Ferry Launch ADA and Lighting Improvements Project on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
The public information meeting is being held to provide the public and local community the opportunity to offer comments or ask questions regarding the proposed project. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. A question and answer (Q&A) session will immediately follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For instructions on accessing the meeting and ways to provide comments and ask questions, please visit portal.ct.gov/DOTRH-GBFERRY0118-0188.
This project aims to enhance pedestrian access by improving sidewalks, lighting, and adding benches for people watching the ferry operations, while also installing gate systems at Glastonbury and Rocky Hill to prevent unauthorized slip access,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Charles Wiegert. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the project’s design.”
Right-of-way impacts are minor as all work will be completed within state ROW. Some staging/stockpiling of materials will be located on town property, no private property will be used or acquired for the proposed work. An easement within state ROW is being created for the adjacent property owner on the south side of the Rocky Hill location to provide additional private parking.
Construction is anticipated in the 2025/2026 ferry off-season. The estimated cost is $400,000 with 100% state funds.
