Hartford Line Schedule Change Effective Friday evening, July 11 to Monday morning, July 14, 2025

Busing will be required for select Amtrak trains between New Haven to Springfield and CTrail trains between Berlin to Springfield

7/03/2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is alerting customers of the upcoming train service adjustments effective the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, through early morning Monday, July 14, 2025, on the Hartford Line (HL). The schedule adjustments are to accommodate Amtrak’s planned track work for the Wood Interlocking Project and the new Windsor Locks Station. As a result of this construction work, busing will be required for most trains. This is the first of four upcoming weekend outages on the Hartford Line this year.

Busing is necessary to support Amtrak’s Wood Interlocking project. The project consists of replacing track components which will lead to a reduction in maintenance and increased reliability. Amtrak will also be upgrading the railroad bridge crossing over Capitol Avenue in Hartford. This will keep the railroad in a state of good repair.

View the schedule at hartfordline.com.

Train fares will be effective on the substitute buses. Passengers are required to purchase a CTrail or Amtrak ticket to board the substitute buses.

Buses will stop at all scheduled stations. Bus times at intermediate stations may vary due to traffic and other conditions. Passengers will be directed to the bus pick up and drop off location by signage on the platform. Below is a list of the bus substitutions:

July 11:

  • Amtrak 148 and Amtrak 136 bused from New Haven and Springfield, MA

    July 12 and 13:

  • All Amtrak trains bused between New Haven and Springfield, MA
  • All CTrail trains bused between Berlin and Springfield, MA.

July 14:

  • Amtrak 141 and Amtrak 125 bused between Springfield, MA and New Haven

Passengers are encouraged to visit hartfordline.com or amtrak.com for the latest service information. Current and future projects can be found at railprojects.ctrail.com.

Riders can also sign up to have alerts sent directly to their mobile phone or email accounts by signing up at hartfordline.com/service-alerts. Don’t forget to review your preferences to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information for your travels. Preferences may need updating after each schedule change.
