CTDOT is Developing Plans to Replace Bridge carrying Route 67 Over Little River in Oxford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to construct a new bridge in the location of Bridge No. 05879 carrying Route 67 over Little River in Oxford.

The project involves the construction of a permanent bridge in approximately the same location as the temporary structure, which was placed as a short-term remediation in place of the existing bridge that was undermined due to the historic rainstorm event occurred in August of 2024.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in November of 2026, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2027, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken and important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development. If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, contact Andrew Cardinali, Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-3315 or by e-mail at Andrew.Cardinali@ct.gov. Please make reference to Bridge No. 05879.
