CTDOT is Developing Plans for Traffic Control Signals in Southwest Connecticut

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace existing traffic control signal equipment with new equipment to meet current CTDOT standards at 49 intersections in East Haven, Fairfield, Milford, North Haven, Norwalk, Trumbull, Wallingford, West Haven, Westport and Wilton. The project involves full replacement of traffic signal equipment at 13 intersections and partial replacement of traffic signal equipment at 36 intersections. At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible push buttons, sidewalk ramps, and sidewalk connections) will be upgraded in an effort to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. CTDOT will coordinate with the town during the design phase. The following intersections are included:

It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. CTDOT expects to hold a public informational hearing upon the completion of the preliminary design.

The design plans for this project are expected to be completed in May 2027, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2028.
